Architecture and Design Students Awarded Scholarships

On October 30, four New York Institute of Technology students received scholarships from the FRIENDS of the School of Architecture and Design, which hosted its 17th Annual Alumni and FRIENDS Reception at Guastavino's in New York City. Each year, the FRIENDS of the School of Architecture and Design awards scholarships to well-rounded, hard-working students who excel in their area of study. This year's recipients included: -Latoya Deleon, fourth-year interior design student -Jack Bogdan, fourth-year architectural technology student -Deborah Seyilnen Parradang, fifth-year architecture student -Katrina Deicmane, fifth-year architecture student (FRIENDS Edward J. Fulford Scholarship)

Students Awarded Edward Guiliano Global Fellowship

New York Institute of Technology has awarded six students Edward Guiliano Global Fellowships so that they may carry out travel-related projects during the spring 2024 semester. Since 2014, New York Tech has offered dozens of students the chance to broaden their academic and cultural perspectives through travel with Edward Guiliano Global Fellowships. Grants range from $750 to $5,000. Students utilize their awards for creative expression, research, and cultural activities for personal development outside of their comfort zone through travel, as projects must take place at least 200 miles from the student's home or the New York Tech campus.

Students Awarded Department of Defense Cyber Scholarship

As seen in The Box, two NYIT College of Engineering and Computing Sciences students have been awarded the Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Scholarship (CySP). Zachary Singleton, a graduate student studying cybersecurity, and Michael Valenzuela, an undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science-network security, will each receive the full cost of tuition, books, and required fees. In exchange for a full scholarship, the students will perform a service obligation with the DoD as civilian employees. The DoD gives the scholarship as a grant to designated Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE) schools. Only students at designated CAE-CDE schools are permitted to apply for the scholarship. The scholarship program is designed to encourage the recruitment of the nation's top cyber talent and the retention of DoD personnel who have skills necessary to meet DoD's cyber requirements and help secure our nation against threats of information systems and networks.
