NYIT Offers Hands-On Summer Programs for High Schoolers

Old Westbury, NY (01/28/2019) — New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) will once again offer three career-oriented summer programs for high school students at its Old Westbury campus. The offerings, called "NYIT Academy," combine academic instruction with hands-on learning. Each session lasts two weeks and carries two college credits, beginning as early as July 8.

Pre-college students can attend one of the following summer programs in Old Westbury:

  • Health and Medical Academy (NYIT School of Health Professions and NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine). Learn about various health-related careers by working in NYIT labs, attending interactive lectures, and getting trained in CPR. This program has a maximum enrollment of 30 students.
  • Makers and Fabricators (NYIT College of Engineering and Computing Sciences). Take an idea from paper to assembly using metal, plastic, acrylic, wood, and other materials in the process of building your own small racing car. This program has a maximum enrollment of 10 students.
  • Technology and Engineering Experience (NYIT College of Engineering and Computing Sciences). Explore coding, robotics, materials science, and other elements of careers in technology, engineering, and computer science. This program has a maximum enrollment of 30 students.
