New York Tech Scholarship Honors COVID-19 First Responders, Teachers

Old Westbury, NY (04/29/2020) — In recognition of the remarkable courage and sacrifice many public service professionals are exhibiting in their response to the COVID-19 crisis, New York Institute of Technology's Children of Police Officers, Firefighters, EMT, and K-12 Teachers Award is offering the children of these public service professionals up to 50 percent tuition discount on any of the university's 50+ full-time undergraduate programs.

The Children of Police Officers, Firefighters, EMT, and K-12 Teachers Award, established in 2019, acknowledges all New York Tech students whose parents or legal guardians are active and fully employed (non-volunteer) in these public service professions in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The deadline for prospective and enrolled students to apply for the scholarship for the fall 2020 semester is July 15.

"This is New York Tech's way of thanking public service professionals who are helping our communities navigate this crisis, often at great personal risk, by assisting them with the cost of their children's education," said Joseph Posillico, Ed.D., vice president for enrollment management.

Other Scholarships for Police Officers and Veterans Available

Among its generous financial aid programs, New York Tech also offers discounted tuition to actively employed police officers and this summer is offering all currently enrolled and visiting students discounted undergraduate tuition that is up to half off that of other local private universities.

Additionally, New York Tech continues to be committed to offering financial and other resources to veterans -- support that is recognized by its No. 30 ranking among the Best Colleges for Veterans by U.S. News & World Report and Military Times' Best for Vets College, ranking no. 76 nationally and no. 4 in New York State among four-year colleges.
