Engineering Students Invent Prize-Winners
Two teams of College of Engineering and Computing Sciences students traveled to Albany, N.Y., on April 8, where they took home first- and second-place prizes at the New York State Industries for the Disabled's (NYSID) 10th annual Cultivating Resources for Employment with Assistive TEchnology (CREATE) Symposium. Each year, the symposium pairs teams of college engineering students with nonprofit organizations supporting those with developmental disabilities. The goal is to design inventions to assist such people in their everyday work tasks.

Nursing Students Receive White Coats
On March 13, New York Institute of Technology's Class of 2025 nursing students received their white coats. The Nursing White Coat Ceremony signifies the transition from classroom learning to clinical learning and represents a formal welcome into the nursing profession.

NYITCOM Students Inducted into Honors Fraternity
Thirty-three future physicians from NYITCOM's Class of 2025 were inducted into the medical school's chapter of Sigma Sigma Phi. Sigma Sigma Phi is the national osteopathic medicine honors fraternity for medical students training to become Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.). NYITCOM invites only a select number of students who rank at the top of their class to apply for Sigma Sigma Phi membership. Inductees are selected based on outstanding academic excellence, leadership qualities, and dedication to service.

Students Awarded Edward Guiliano Global Fellowship
New York Institute of Technology has awarded six students Edward Guiliano Global Fellowships so that they may carry out travel-related projects during the spring 2024 semester. Since 2014, New York Tech has offered dozens of students the chance to broaden their academic and cultural perspectives through travel with Edward Guiliano Global Fellowships. Grants range from $750 to $5,000. Students utilize their awards for creative expression, research, and cultural activities for personal development outside of their comfort zone through travel, as projects must take place at least 200 miles from the student's home or the New York Tech campus.

Alpha Eta Honor Society Inductions
Each spring, New York Institute of Technology's School of Health Professions inducts senior students from all health disciplines into the Alpha Eta Honor Society. With the motto "Together We Serve," the national honor society promotes and recognizes students for significant scholarship, leadership, and contributions to the allied health professions. This year, nearly 100 students, including members of the spring Class of 2023 and fall graduates of the Class of 2022, were inducted.

Student Research Showcased at SOURCE 2023
On April 14, New York Institute of Technology undergraduate and graduate students showcased their scholarly work at the institution's annual Symposium of University Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE). At New York Tech's New York City campus, 119 student research projects were shared in the form of oral presentations and poster presentations. Oral presentations covered social impact topics such as the relationship between body positivity and physical health, solutions to greenhouse gas emissions in Puerto Rico, and student-led legislation to end the sale of over-the-counter weight loss and muscle-building products to minors. Technical oral presentation topics included exotic DNA structures and their role in gene instability, genome sequencing of bacteria-infecting viruses (bacteriophages), and the use of bacteriophages to combat MRSA infections. Students also shared poster presentations spanning a wide range of topics, including, among many others, the use of cannabidiols in cancer treatment and the future of telemedicine. Nursing Students Participate in Community Food Drive
On October 30, senior students from New York Institute of Technology's nursing program participated in a food drive to benefit Long Island Cares. The community service was done in conjunction with the Nurses Association of the Counties of Long Island (NACLI), with nursing students donating groceries and money to "adopt a family" for Thanksgiving. In total, the students contributed more than $500.00 on NACLI's behalf and over 25 bags of food.

Omicron Delta Kappa Celebrates New Members
Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, welcomed 320 new initiates from 15 universities during May 2022. Students initiated into the Society must be sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate/professional students in the top 35% of their class, demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars, and embrace the ODK ideals. Fewer than five percent of students on a campus are invited to join each year.

Students Recognized for Academic Achievements
A total of 1,330 New York Tech students were named to the Presidential Honor List and Dean's List for fall 2021. To qualify for the Dean's List, full-time students must earn a GPA of at least 3.5 and complete 12 or more credit hours without any incomplete grades. Part-time students must achieve a minimum semester GPA of 3.6 or higher and complete six or more credits without any incomplete grades. To qualify for the Presidential Honor List, a student must achieve a minimum semester GPA of 3.7 and complete at least 12 credit hours without any incomplete grades.
